the dentures i have been given by my dentist are not helping matters at all but making them much worse. it is a partial dentures that i wear and i hate the fit so much. it is rubbing against my gums and causing me great distress in my daily comings and goings. i can hardly function because these blasted dentures are all i am thinking about. i got the dentures in little over a month ago. surely that is time enough for the problem to abate? what would you say to this?
Hi and welcome to the forum where we aim to resolve any issues or questions that you may be have. The information that you have given ,clearly indicates that you may be having more problems than most when settling into wearing a new set of teeth. The aim of dentures is to improve your function rather than to hinder your day to day functions. The fit of your dentures should be nice and tight against the standing teeth so movement of the dentures whilst in use is kept to a minimum and so that they do not rub or irritate the oral tissues .
Without your full history it is hard to give a definitive answer to your problems and queries. There are many questions that need to be asked and an oral examination done.
So the best solutions for you to follow would be :-
a) go back to the original prescribing dentist with your list of queries and ask him for an assessment of your case and whether this is correct .
b) find your local clinical dental technician and ask for a consultation and discuss your issues with them to see if they can rectify the situation.
I hope this may answer a few of your questions.
