My Father has 4 lower front teeth only and an upper denture. He wants to have his remaining teeth removed and a lower denture made. Could you offer some information on what to expect. The dentist says he will take xrays and then refer to an oral surgeon (as he’s getting it done under sedation, however he’s not seen him yet) to have teeth pulled and an impression for dentures done by the oral surgeon and then the dentist will place the denture. Does that make sense?
Thank you for your question,It would make sense to make a ‘immediate denture’, the denture would be made prior to the extraction of the teeth and the lower denture would be fitted at the same time as the extraction, this would allow the denture to settle in and the denture reviewed after 4-6 months when the tissue has healed. Hope this helped, please feel free to email me with anymore questions that you might have
