My dentures are nothing but bad news for my gums. What should I do?

May 14th, 2012
Q.

Hello Dr. Could I please acquire your help on an issue I have with my dentures I have had the dentures about seven months now and have continually had problems with the bottom one, When I had them made the dentist said they would eventually begin to lose grip ad my gums receded, I do not understand this notion and dont see how dentures could destroy my gum, is what he said true? anyway the issue is not that they will lose grip but that the bottom one already had, he was grumbling to himself that the bottom one was harder as he makes them himself? have you ever heard this to be the case or is it just my jaw in this instance that we’re having issues with. I do trust my dentist I know it sounds as though I am undermining him its just because I don’t understand I don’t get it? cheers

Would swiss dentures be suitable for me and how much would they cost?

July 20th, 2011
Q.

Dear Mark,
I have really sore gums and my dentures are always causing me problems when it comes to eating food. I cannot eat solid foods and have to either blend my food or eat soft foods. I have read that swiss dentures make chewing food and eating a lot easier and that I would have sore gums because swiss dentures are also softer and more comfortable. Is this true and how much would swiss dentures cost me?
