I think my teeth are beyond repair and have just had grand kids, what should I do?

October 26th, 2011
Q.

I have have missing teeth for many years now and always has a slack attitude towards them as in ahh whatever, never really cared- I don’t know why considering as soon as im ill im at the doctors yet although my teeth blatantly are not correct i do nothing about them even when its both obvious and visible to myself! i know its properly silly. however Ive just been blessed with grandchildren and theres no way theyre growing up to see nan like this, my teeth are massivley beyond help and theres only 7 left on top and 6 on the bottom what do you think my best options are? is it in this case senario worth keeping any of the teeth or will they all need to come out? i respect you cant see whats actually going on but any feedback would be welcome thankyou

Why wont my dentures stay in?

September 27th, 2011
Q.

Ive had dentures now for some years now i don’t know if ive grown/theyve warped/ shrunk/ ive shrunk! or whatever but they just will not stay on using the same fixative ive always used, i have therefore started trying other fixatives and none of them seem to do what’s required and my dentures constantly come loose. they are really beginning to do my head in now. what would you recommend doing? a friend of mine suggested that I have imlants which i dont want because when they used to fit i always thought the dentures (full ones by the way) looked good and inconspicuous. I myself have done research and heard of a few occasions where you can have your dentures implanted so to speak is this at all possible if so how much does it cost ish and if not what can I do to sort them out?

Can I get NHS dentures if I was born with no adult teeth?

September 5th, 2011
Q.

My 10year old cousin only has baby teeth which are due to come out soon, he has no adult teeth due to a genetic condition he was born with. would he be able to get dentures on the NHS? also, if you can tell me, how often would they need replacing as he is still growing really? should he get them all taken out right now or would you say it is better to wait till they come out naturally and on themselves? thanks for your help

Why does my dentist have to reshape my dentures every 3 months?

August 17th, 2011
Q.

I have had upper dental implants for seven years but since last year my front teeth have been slightly uneven. My dentist will reshape them every time I go for a cleaning. I feel like this is making my teeth look fake and even smaller. I have a small mouth so I’av always had small teeth, however it’s annoying to have this happen every three months. Last time I went I asked him about getting a new implant which he said I didn’t need yet. I am 61 years old, so I don’t know if this is due to ageing affecting my gums. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Whats the best thing for me, implants, dentures or a bridge?

August 12th, 2011
Q.

Hello, my teeth are in a complete state, they’re rotted, black, wobbly, discoloured, sensitive you name it! I want to get them sorted but dont know what my options are like I know about implants, dentures and bridges but dont know how they fit in, when you could have them or which is best. I’av tried looking on google but can’t find the nice simple answers that I can understand, would you be able to tell me which is best for me?

Can I wear temporary dentures whilst training?

August 4th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I have had no end of problems with my teeth since I broke them in a sports related accident. For many years I had crowns on my 2 front teeth but they have fractured and the gums are seriously infected. I have resisted extraction but it does not look like I have a choice now. I have an option of implants, but understand I have to wear dentures for 3 months until the wounds heal sufficiently. My problem is I am a triathlete in nearly full time training, and need to be able to wear my dentures while swimming/racing. Are fixatives sufficient to hold them in, or what is a possible solution for these three months? I am really depressed about this, and one thing I don’t want to consider is taking them off during swim training or during a race. Please would you advise me? Thank you.

Can new dentures get rid of my wrinkles?

August 4th, 2011
Q.

Hi Iam 65years old and have a particle denture on my top and bottom, which iam looking to get replaced. I’av had a lot of dental work over the past 25years, such as my front two teeth capped. Iam wondering if theres types of new dentures that could possibly reduce the wrinkles around my mouth as well as making my teeth more secure?

What do I do about my rubbing dentures?

July 21st, 2011
Q.

the dentures i have been given by my dentist are not helping matters at all but making them much worse. it is a partial dentures that i wear and i hate the fit so much. it is rubbing against my gums and causing me great distress in my daily comings and goings. i can hardly function because these blasted dentures are all i am thinking about. i got the dentures in little over a month ago. surely that is time enough for the problem to abate? what would you say to this?

Are dentures really my best option?

July 21st, 2011
Q.

hello. i have been told by my dentist that my molars and some of my other teeth close to this will need to be removed and that i will then need to get dentures. this frightens me so much i can not even tell you. to me dentures are something my grandma wore and something i always wanted to steer clear of. please tell me that dentures have suddenly turned the corner and are more wonderful than i can possibly imagine? are they still the best option would you say when this number of teeth need to be replaced?
